Parkway Christian Church

Our Staff

Senior Minister, Dr. David Walton

A native of Virginia, Dr. Walton came to serve Parkway in February, 2009. Dr. Walton began his faith walk with Christ as a teenager. After a ten year career as a high school history teacher, he received a call into ministry which dramatically changed his life. Uprooting his family, and selling most everything they had, Dr. Walton entered seminary. While there he developed a strong sense of social justice that has been hallmark of his ministry. While serving Belmont Christian Church in Roanoke, Virginia, he led a community coalition which worked with the city to bring much needed development and upgrades to the underserved population around the church. The Southeast…by Design project (as it was known) became a nationwide model for how communities and government agencies can work together.

Since coming to Parkway the church and school community have grown closer together and today are collaborating on a Campus Enhancement Program which promises to grow the campus ministry into the future.

Dr. Walton holds degrees from Virginia State University, Union Theological Seminary and Lexington Theological Seminary where he earned his Doctor of Ministry in Practical Theology. He and his wife, Teresa, have three adult kids…and two great dogs!

Associate Minister for Children, Youth and Families, Rev. Joy Rowe

Rev. Rowe joined the Parkway Family in February, 2012.  She came to us from First Christian Church in Wilson, North Carolina, where she served as the Associate Minister.  Her call to ministry came in the midst of raising four children.  Rev. Rowe’s journey to ordination spanned many years and involved overcoming many challenges and obstacles.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison New Jersey in 1993 six weeks before the birth of her fourth child.  Fifteen years later in May of 2008 she went on to receive her Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana.  During those fifteen years she worked with children and youth in Christian Education.  One of the congregations she served was Geist Christian Church in Indianapolis.  With over 1500 members at two campuses, it is one of the largest and most progressive churches in the Denomination.  She believes children have an innate connection to God and the purpose of Christian Education is to foster that connection.  She is excited to be part of such a vibrant faith community dedicated to the education and faith formation of young people.

                                                             Worship Director, Nathan Jasso

Nathan came on board as Parkway's Worship Director in June, 2011.  He came to Parkway after having served as the Music Director at Tampa's First Reformed Church.  There he created and grew their Contemporary Worship service until it rivaled the traditional service in attendance.  Nathan is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.  At USF, Nathan participated in the University Singers, USF Opera Theater and the USF Chamber Theater.  In addition to serving Parkway, Nathan works in the Broward County Public Schools. He is an instructor of voice and guitar.  With his extensive experience Nathan says his goal is to "instill a love of Jesus through music and to provide music ministries to encourage the development of growing reltionships with one another through Christ."

Adult Choir Director, Lisa Fisher

Lisa became Parkway's Adult Choir Director in April, 2011. A classically trained pianist and vocalist, Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Montclair State University. She is excited about helping Parkway's choir "make a joyful noise to the Lord." (Psalm 100:1) Under Lisa's leadership, once a month the choir brings special music during worship. At Christmas and Easter the Adult Choir leads the congregation in full musical programs. In addition to leading Parkway's Choir, Lisa also gives private piano and vocal lessons our of her home. Additionally, she also periodically helps out at locals schools with their music programs.
